c2c is excited to open project 15 with work by Sarah Thibault and Adams Puryear in our Brooklyn, NY location. Their love hate relationship with modern technology and the transformation it has wrought in our lives is gist for their drawings, painting, and ceramic sculpture.  Both use humor as a means of making sense of the absurdities of modern life…while indicating a certain amount of distaste for it and the changes it has engendered. They are highly aware of the aesthetics and art historical nature of their practices, using color and form to highlight the complexity of the post-internet world we inhabit. The glow of a computer screen acts as the light source for the still life or interior scene in Sarah’s skewed view of the world, while Adams slows down our overly fast paced world by using a performativity blob pouring from the orifices of his sculptural forms.

Part critique and part reverence, their work makes us stop and ponder issues that life doesn’t often allow us time to do so…all while entertaining us with a dose of comedic relief.  It is in the specific comedy and the irony that it engenders where the two ‘s artistic expressions overlap.

Join us for an opening reception on Saturday, October 13 from 6-9pm. Both artists will be present.

Or by appointment all other times by calling (415)606-6418 or email at [email protected].
